Fat Injections
Fat injections are effective for filling skin indendations, depressed scars including acne scars, and deep wrinkles. Dr. Westfield performs fat injections in his San Antonio cosmetic surgery office.

You may be a candidate for fat transfer if you have indentations in your skin, depressed scars, or deep wrinkles. Fat injection may also be used for an enhancement of your lips. The intended result of fat transfer is to minimize facial and other skin wrinkles and depressions.
Fat injection treatment is usually best for small depressions. Small amounts of fat are injected into the deep skin layers under the depression or defect.
Fat injections are performed as an outpatient procedure. The treated areas usually look normal within a few days.
Fat transfer is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment. The specific risks and the suitability of fat transfer for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.
